Answer:
You must renew the patent in the second year of patent application.
You must pay an annual fee even if your patent has not been published.
The patent is then renewed each year before the “due date” (the last day of the month of the first filing date).
Patents can be renewed up to 12 months before the due date.
The annual fee can still be legally paid up to 6 months after the due date, but there is a 50% surcharge fee to be paid.
If the payment is not made within 6 months after the due date, the patent will be expired.

Once the annual fee is paid, INPI will email you a receipt confirmation and payment receipt.

Open a INPI Professional account
If you expect to frequently carry out transactions or purchases with the INPI, you can open a customer account (advance payment account).

• Complete and sign the account opening form corresponding to your situation (natural or legal person) to download below.
• Read the general conditions of use, initial them, sign and date.
• Pay a minimum provision of € 500 by check made out to the Accountant of the INPI or by transfer.
• Send the completed form and T & Cs to the INPI accounting agency, the supporting documents requested in point 3-2, the check or copy of the notice of transfer of the initial provision.

After receipt of the complete account request file, we will send you an account number and a password which will allow you to pay the fees for procedures and services online, and access the Extranet of customer accounts. (accounting monitoring of your account).
The amount corresponding to your purchases or procedures will be debited from your account.
If you already have a customer account at the INPI, you can obtain a password to order and pay on the store by simply requesting contact@inpi.fr.
